Safety First : Best ever safety performance by Indian Railways; Zero passenger fatalities due to railway accident since April 2019

The remarkable feat has been achieved for the first time since the introduction of Railways in India 166 years ago. Highest number of level crossings were eliminated(1274 nos.), and the renewal of rails was also the highest ever(at 5181 track km) in this period. Furthermore, a total 1309 nos. of ROBs/RUBs were constructed, and 1367 nos. of bridges were rehabilitated during 2019-2020 to enhance safety on the railways network.

Service to the nation : Indian Railways will continue to give Shramik Special Trains to States on demand

As of now 63 additional Shramik Special Trains have been requisitioned by various states after Chairman Railway Board's letter to the States which emphasised that the Shramik Special trains will be provided within 24 hours of the request. Overall, more than 4,277 Shramik Special Services have transported approximately 60 lakh persons to their destination states since 1st May 2020.

Indian Railways keeps the national supply chain intact by transporting more than 175.46 million tonnes of essential goods since 1st April 2020

In the month of May 2020, Indian Railways transported over 82.27 million tonnes of essential commodities, which is 25% higher in comparison with the month of April. Since 24th March 2020, more than 31.90 lacs wagons carried supplies across the country of which approx 17.81 lacs wagons carried essential commodities such as food grains, salt, sugar, milk etc.
