India-Brazil set target of USD 15 billion trade by 2022 |
Speaking at the India-Brazil Business Forum, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways Piyush Goyal hoped that as Brazil is one of the most important trading partners of India in the entire LAC (Latin America and Caribbean) region, trade between the two countries will grow to USD 15 billion by 2022. The 15 MoUs of cooperation have been signed on sectors like investments, trade facilitation, social security, agriculture, defence & double taxation, during the visit of the President of Brazil. |

During his intervention at an Informal Ministerial Gathering, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways Piyush Goyal said that the current challenges throw up some key priorities for MC12 (8-11 June 2020 in Kazakhstan), including WTO reforms. He said that on the Appellate Body, India believes, that all must work collectively to achieve the vision of the founding fathers, for an effective multilateral trading system. The early restoration of the full strength of the Appellate Body, will contribute to the realization of that objective. |

Potato Cluster notified under Agri Export Policy; APEDA expediting Cluster Development in States |

Considering the potential of production of potatoes in Agra region, potato cluster has been notified under Agri Export Policy (AEP) of Government of India. APEDA organized a meeting on 20.01.2020 in Agra, where it was discussed that there is a need for cultivation of processing a variety of potatoes which has a demand in the overseas markets. A Workshop/BSM & training programme will also be conducted by APEDA for quality production, traceability, judicious use of pesticides, in order to avoid non-compliance in export of potatoes. |

GeM MoU with UP state for Project Management Unit |
Government eMarketplace (GeM), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Government of Uttar Pradesh, signed a MoU to set up a GeM Organizational Transformation Team (GOTT) Project Management Unit (PMU) in the State. The MoU aims to expedite the harmonization of the procurement guidelines of the two entities and integration of systems, enabling seamless procuring experience. The PMU to be setup under the MoU will make it easier for MSMEs of U.P. to onboard and transact on GeM. |
