Coach Building Getting Back on Track in Indian Railways

On 23rd April 2020, Rail Coach Factory(RCF) Kapurthala has restarted its production process after 28 days nationwide lockdown. In a relentless battle against COVID 19, the factory has been opened while adhering to all the safety precautions and guidelines advised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and local administration. Total 3,744 employees, who reside inside the RCF township, have been permitted to join the work. In spite of the limited availability of resources, RCF Kapurthala has produced two coaches in two working days. All employees have been issued safety kits having masks, sanitizer bottles and soaps. Similarly, other production units will be starting production as soon as they get clearance from respective State Governments.

Railways making all efforts to ensure Food for All during the lockdown

Railways has extended a helping hand to states by offering to supply 2.6 lakh meals daily from various Railway kitchens wherever the district administration is willing and able to pick up cooked meals and distribute among the needy. This has been communicated to District authorities all over the country. These meals will be available at a nominal cost of Rs 15/meal. Payments settlement can be done by the State Governments later. IRCTC has agreed to increase the number of cooked meals as per demand. This initiative is over and above the free hot cooked meals which are already being distributed by Indian Railways.

Railways make arrangements to provide 10000 water bottles per day to Delhi Police personnel on COVID duty
|
Railways, with the help of IRCTC, is providing 10,000 bottles of Rail Neer water bottles everyday to Delhi Police personnel who are braving the heat while being stationed at different parts of the National Capital. These 1 Liter Rail Neer water bottles are picked up from Railneer plant at Nangloi. Till 21st April more than 50,000 bottles have been distributed and this arrangement will continue till 3rd May 2020.
