Transforming districts into export hubs: CBIC starts capturing district-wise data or origin of export goods |
Keeping with the Hon'ble PM's objective of turning districts into export hubs, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has now started capturing district-wise data or origin of export goods. This information from the export declarations will provide a key statistical input to policy makers on the importance of each district for exports and will help in aligning the policies to enhance local capacity. Further, CBIC has now made it mandatory that every GST registered importer and exporter must declare their GSTIN on the import and export declarations, for ease in claiming the ITC Credit and IGST Refunds. |

Even in the midst of a volatile global economy, SEZs in India have shown resilience & have achieved 100-billion-dollar worth of exports in FY 2019-20, as on 17th February 2020. The services segment, constituting majorly of IT &ITeS services was the driver of the export growth at 23.69%. There was almost 4% growth in the manufacturing segment also. Number of operational SEZs has also grown to 241 as against 235 at the end of FY 2018-19. |

Government plans tribal items' push, in India and abroad |
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Ministry of Tribal Affairs have set a target that every household in India should have at least one tribal product over the next three years, with the 'Go Tribal' campaign. In a major initiative to market products made in remote tribal villages, the Centre has reached out to top retailers and ecommerce portals to push a variety of products in India and internationally. The plan is to take sales of such products to Rs 10,000 crore in the next three years from Rs 300 crore last year. |

For the implementation of the Agriculture Export Policy (AEP), Nagpur District is being developed as a cluster for Nagpur Orange by APEDA. A Buyer-Seller Meet cum Training programme on Nagpur Orange cluster was held on 5th December 2019 at Vanamati, Nagpur, in which around 150 farmers attended the training programme. As a result of the efforts, First consignment of Nagpur oranges was flagged off to Dubai on 13th February 2020 from Vashi, Navi Mumbai. |
