Empowering Exporters: Commerce Ministry looking to revamp SEZ policy
Ministry of Commerce & Industry is discussing ways for implementation of the remaining recommendations of Baba Kalyani report on SEZ to facilitate ease of doing business. The recommendations which have been completed include review of specific exclusions proposed in NFE (Net Foreign Exchange) computation in light of 'Make in India' initiative, sharing of duty exempted assets/infrastructure between units to be allowed against specific approval, and formalisation of de-notification process for enclaves.

Ease of doing business: Paperless Licensing process for Petroleum Road Tankers launched
DPIIT has launched paperless licensing process through Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) for road tankers for transportation of petroleum under the Petroleum Rules, 2002. This initiative is directly going to benefit more than 1 lakh petroleum road tanker owners who together hold more than half of total licences issued under the Petroleum Rules, 2002. An added advantage of this move is that the authenticity of the licence can be verified through public domain available on PESO's website.

During a meeting held to resolve issues of MSME associations, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal directed SIDBI & CGTMSE to set up a framework that will enable them to process loans to SME units faster and also provide insurance cover to the SME exporters. He assured the SME sector that the Government will give all the support and help in the skilling of manpower required for the sector and in all other areas that requires intervention.
