Farmers' welfare: Government permits export of onions w.e.f 15th March
DGFT, Department of Commerce has issued a notification which says that Onions, which were in the "prohibited" category as per the present policy, will be under the category "free" in the revised policy. The effect of the notification will be that the export of all varieties of onions has been made 'free' without any condition of Letter Of Credit and Minimum Export Price, with effect from 15th March 2020. This decision will help in increasing the income of farmers.

Export Promotion: Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approves creation of National Technical Textiles Mission
Component-III (Export Promotion) of the Mission aims at export promotion of technical textiles enhancing from the current annual value of approximately Rs.14000 Crore to Rs.20000 Crore by 2021-22 and ensuring 10% average growth in exports per year upto 2023-24. An Export Promotion Council for Technical Textiles will be set up for effective coordination and promotion activities in the segment.

Development on track: Shri Piyush Goyal reviews Infrastructure Projects on Project Monitoring Group (PMG) Portal, along with Invest India and senior officials of Ministries & States
In the meeting, a total of 36 issues in 17 critical projects with total anticipated investment of ₹ 32,910 crores were reviewed. Actionable directions and timelines were issued for the expeditious resolution of pending issues in all projects. Shri Piyush Goyal suggested to disburse funds through letters of credit to optimally utilise working capital. He also directed all the States and MoEF & CC to consider the use of technology in tree transplantation to avoid tree cutting. He asked Addl. DGF, MoEF & CC to provide a concept paper on best technologies available for tree transplantation.

India-Bhutan ties: Shri Piyush Goyal meets leaders of Bhutan; Many concrete deliverables emerged as a consequence of the meetings
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Shri Piyush Goyal announced concrete outcomes for bilateral engagement in areas of training and capacity building. The Government of India will be fully sponsoring training of 100 Bhutanese trainers & youth on Entrepreneurship, while CII announced that it will mentor 30 Bhutanese start-ups in Indian incubation centers. Shri Piyush Goyal delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session of the Summit, and also inaugurated an exhibition of 30 Start- Ups from India and Bhutan together with the Prime Minister of Bhutan.

India-Australia ties: 16th Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission held in New Delhi on 24th February 2020
The Session was co-chaired by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways and Hon. Senator Simon Birmingham, Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment. Both sides agreed to enhancing bilateral trade & investment through revival of the bilateral CECA negotiations, and harmonise standards and regulations on important products. It was agreed to work on market access issues in both directions & mutual recognition of educational qualifications of the two countries.
