Government approves transformational Organisational Restructuring of Indian Railways

In a historic reform measure, Government has approved the organizational restructuring of railways to promote smooth working of Railways, expedite decision making & create a coherent vision for organisation. The reforms include Unification of the existing eight Group A services of the Railways into a Central Service called Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) & Re-organisation of Railway Board on functional lines headed by CRB with four Members and some Independent Members.

Safety First: Railways had zero passenger deaths in the current financial year

In its 166-year-long history, Railways saw zero passenger deaths during the current fiscal, marking a big achievement for it on the safety front. The total numbers of consequential accidents- collisions, fire in trains, level crossing accidents and derailments have decreased by nearly 95 per cent over the last 38 years.

Railways Christmas gift for its passengers: Starts special see-through Vistadome train on Kalka-Shimla route

Railways unveiled Him Darshan Express comprising all-new Vistadome coaches from Kalka railway station to Shimla on 25th December 2019. This special train will commute between the Kalka and Shimla station for the next one year till December 24, 2020. Him Darshan Express will be the first-ever train with Vistadome coaches by the Indian Railways that will run on a regular basis.

Railways to launch the second Tejas Express train between Mumbai & Ahmedabad

Railways to launch the second Tejas Express train on January 17, 2020 which will run between Mumbai & Ahmedabad. This will be yet another step of the Ministry of Railways in its endeavour to improve the overall traveling experience of rail passengers by providing state of the art amenities to them on trains. The commercial run of the train will start with effect from 19th January, 2020 from Ahmedabad.

First Trial Run of Double Stack Train conducted on newly built Rewari-Madar section

An inaugural Trial-Run of Double Stack Train on the newly built Rewari-Madar section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), covering a distance of about 306 kms (Total 663 track Km) was conducted 27th December 2019. The opening of this stretch will benefit various industries in Rewari - Manesar, Narnaul, Phulera & Kishangarh areas of Rajasthan & Haryana. In addition to this, the container depot of CONCOR at Kathuwas will also come on DFC map and get advantage in terms of faster throughput.
