Railways contribution in building a New India: India's first Semi-High Speed train built under ‘Make in India’ initiative, will be known as the 'Vande Bharat Express'

Railways announced the name ‘Vande Bharat Express’ for Train 18 on 27th January 2019, acknowledging its made-in-India status. Since the launch of Rajdhani trains, ‘Vande Bharat Express' is the next major leap for Railways in terms of speed and convenience.

Railways massive recruitment drive for 2,30,000 jobs with 10% reservations for EWS, in addition to reservation for SC, ST and OBC candidates

Indian Railways will initiate fresh recruitment of ~2,30,000 more employees under various cadres of Indian Railways, which will be recruited over the next two years in two phases. This is in addition to the Railways mega recruitment process for 1,51,548 employees initiated 14 months ago.

Railways announces extension of 22 Pairs of Train services which will help in development of the regions & also to utilize resources to the full extent

To reduce additional lie-over time of the trains, Railways has announced extension of 22 pairs of train services. These will provide additional connectivity between various places in the country and will help in more gainful utilization of Coaching Stock and will augment revenue of Railways.

Robust coal stock to energise India: Coal Stock at Power Plants increased by a phenomenal 35.6% from Jan’18 to Jan’19, ensuring uninterrupted power generation

As on 22nd January 2019, power plants are having 18.663 MT coal stock as compared to 13.759 MT coal stock last year (22nd Jan 2018) which is an increase of 35.6%. Railway rake loading of Coal India has increased by 8% during current year as compared to the same period last year.

Railways presented its tableau at the Republic Day parade, symbolising its role in helping Bapu in his quest for an Independent India

On this 70th Republic Day, Railways presented its tableau with the theme “Mohan se Mahatma”. The Tableau illustrated an evolutionary journey of Mahatma Gandhi and Indian Railways.
