Railways to enforce ban on single–use plastic material

 
 

Railways has once again risen to the occasion to shield the environment from the menace of plastic and has directed to enforce ban on single use plastic material, with less than 50 micron thickness from 2nd October, 2019. Railways has also instructed its units that a pledge can be administered on 2nd October 2019 to cut the use of plastics.

In order to ensure that caterers in trains do not overcharge passengers and spread awareness among passengers that they will not have to pay for their food if they do not get a bill for the same, Railway staff has been provided with uniforms displaying the message “No Bill – The Food is Free”.

Railways prevents food wastage installing “Public Fridge” at Hubballi station

 

To prevent wastage of food and to feed the needy, Railways has installed a public refrigerator at Hubballi railway station in Karnataka. Passengers or food plaza staff can now keep surplus or excess food in the fridge instead of throwing it away.
