Railways successfully conducted one of the world's largest recruitment exercise, for filling up critical safety and operational posts ensuring highest possible level of measures security and probity during the recruitment process and has reached its completion stage. Unprecedented 47.45 Lakhs candidates appeared for over 64,000 posts of ALPs & Technicians. About 1.17 Crores candidates appeared for over 63,000 posts in Level I (erstwhile Group D) posts and 24.75 lakhs candidates appeared for over 13,500 posts for JE, DMS & CMA posts.

Railways rationalizes Menus and Tariffs for Catering Services

With a view to further improving variety, hygiene and quality of food for its passengers, Railways has rationalized Catering Tariff and Menu for Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto Trains & Standard Meals on Mail/Express trains being served through IRCTC. Affordability, ensuring the availability of regional cuisine and variety in standard meals to passengers has also been taken care of.

Railways brings Free Wi-Fi at Historic Dera Baba Nanak Station & Connectivity at ICP for "Kartarpur Corridor" Project

To enable the pilgrims to use fast Wi-Fi services as an amenity, Railways has provided Free Wi-Fi at the historic Dera Baba Nanak Railway station, Punjab which is proving to be a boon for the passengers. RailTel was also entrusted by NIC to deliver 8 Mbps BW at Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur under the prestigious "Kartarpur Corridor" Project of Government of India. This leased line connectivity has been done within a record time of 15 days.

Railways gifted "Uttam Rake" to Mumbaikars on 69th Foundation Day of Western Railway

Railways, on the auspicious occasion of 69th Foundation Day of Western Railway on 5th November, 2019, introduced the state-of-the-art "Uttam Rake" in its inaugural run as Ladies Special local train from Churchgate to Virar. Uttam rake has improved interiors and advanced features to bring more comfort for Mumbaikars. The new rake is scheduled to run its normal services from 6th November, 2019 with 10 services a day.

Railways celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 with the theme "Integrity-a way of life"

Railways has observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 with the theme "Integrity- A way of life" from 28th October, 2019 to 02nd November 2019 all over Indian Railways with mass participation at all levels. A unique method was adopted of circulating Integrity Pledge on a mass scale to railway employees, rail users and public at large through text messages and railway portal. About 05 lakh Railway personnel and more than 03 lakh passengers took the Integrity pledge while about 2.64 crore users received messages of Integrity Pledge through railway app.
