India as one of the top 10 improvers in EoDB Rankings 2020, third time in a row, with an improvement of 67 ranks in 3 years. ECGC has introduced a new Export Credit Insurance Scheme (ECIS) called 'NIRVIK' for exporters in which increased insurance cover for export credit from existing average of 60% to 90% for both Principal and Interest. A WTO compliant scheme - Remission of Duties or Taxes on Export Product (RoDTEP) formulated for promotion of exports. National Traders' Welfare Board established to understand the issues and problems faced by traders. |

India Poised To Attract Investments Moving Out Of China : Piyush Goyal
Speaking at the India Economic Conclave 2019, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal said that the income tax changes, which were approved by Parliament, are an important element in our plan to attract investments to and not let them go to any Southeast Asian countries. He added that the government is also looking at pooling together land which state and central governments have got to offer to investors for setting up their businesses in India |

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal meets Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Hiroshi Kajiyama in New Delhi on Dec. 10,2019
Bilateral issues between India and Japan were discussed in the hour long meeting and Commerce and Industry Minister raised the issue of trade deficit between India and Japan and the review of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries. Both Ministers tasked officials of both countries to prepare a time bound action plan to address all these issues to strengthen Indo-Japan trade relations. |

Piyush Goyal stresses on MSME exports; says opportunity for small businesses globally under FTAs
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways, Piyush Goyal informed Lok Sabha that the SME products on which concessions are offered by India's trading partners including Japan, South Korea and some ASEAN countries, belong to categories including readymade garments, leather goods, processed foods, and engineering products such as auto components. MSME focused export promotion schemes include participation in international exhibitions and fairs, training programme on the packaging for exports, Market Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme for MSME exporters and National Award for quality products. |

EEPC celebrates 50th year of Engineering Exports Awards; First Ever EEPC India-QCI Awards announced
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Hardeep Singh Puri, gave away the Engineering Export Promotion Awards (EEPC) for the year 2017-2018. He urged the engineering sector, that employs 40 lakh workers, to get abreast with global engineering standards and adopt new technology to upgrade their core efficiency and improve their competency and achieve cost competitiveness. |

India Design Council launched two Initiatives - Chartered Designs of India (CDI) & Design Education Quality Mark (DEQM), to promote Design Education and Standards
These two initiatives of IDC and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad will help to address the 5 challenges of scale, quality of design, quality of education for design, raising the priority for design in industry and design for public purpose. The DEQ Mark will be granted to institutions which undergo the review process and meet or exceed the expectations for quality and standards as prescribed in the Quality Code. CDI is envisaged as an institution that will establish and uphold the professional standards of design practice in India. |
