Chennai Connect India, China to establish high-level economic & trade dialogue mechanism |
The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and the President of the People's Republic of China Mr Xi Jinping held their Second Informal Summit in Chennai, on October 11-12, 2019. Both Leaders decided to establish a High-Level Economic and Trade Dialogue mechanism with the objective of achieving enhanced trade and commercial relations, as well as to better balance the trade between the two countries.

A Welcome boost India's engineering exports to China up 58% in August 2019 |
As per the data of Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC), India's engineering exports to China have gone up by an annualised 58% in August 2019, bucking the trend of drop in overall exports to the world market. Led by items like iron & steel and their products, India's exports of engineering goods to China went up to $176.94 million in August 2019 from $112.20 million in August 2018.

Speaking during a ministerial panel discussion at India Energy Forum, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal said that India has naturally emerged as the startup capital of the world with the highest registered startups. He further said that multilateralism will prevail and India supports all fair and honest global efforts to do away with all unfair trade practices.

GeM signs MOU with Union Bank of India |
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Union Bank of India (UBI) in New Delhi on October 10, 2019. Through this partnership, UBI will be able to offer an array of services including transfer of funds through GeM Pool Accounts (GPA), advising of Performance Bank Guarantees (e-PBG) and Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) to the registered users on the GeM portal.

Secretary DPIIT, Guruprasad Mohapatra launched the website and mobile application on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) on October 14, 2019 in New Delhi. The website and app has been developed by Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM)-DPIIT in collaboration with Qualcomm and National Law University (NLU), Delhi.
