Railways extends support for giving a boost to economy & announces measures of Freight incentive
Indian Railways announces certain Freight incentives to give a boost to the economy. Freight rate related measures such as levy of Busy Season Charge (BSC) deferred, Waiver of Supplementary charges on Mini and Two point rakes, Round-trip charging on container traffic, Discount on movement of empty containers and empty flat wagons, Large-scale de-notification of commodities for container traffic etc. Measures to enhance ease of business and digitisation include Pan-India implementation of Electronic Transmission of Railway receipts and Weighment-related reforms.

Big relief to passengers of Humsafar Trains
Existing variable fare system of Humsafar Trains done away with and to have only 'fixed' fare system. Reduction in Base fare and Tatkal charges bringing it at par with Normal Tatkal Rules. Sleeper class coaches to be attached in addition to existing only 3AC class coaches. Tickets under current booking after the first charting shall be sold with a 10% discount on the applicable basic fare and other supplementary charges like all other trains.

Railways to undertake one more drive of "MASSIVE SHRAMDAN" to focus on collection of Plastic waste
Railways is undertaking various activities relating to Swachhata Pakhwada from 11th September to 2nd October, 2019. Railways has directed that a MASSIVE SHRAMADAN on the 17th September, 2019 should be arranged at each and every station and nearby localities, approaches to the stations, and in areas near tracks all over the country. Senior most officials at the stations and at all other levels of Railways are asked to lead the SHRAMDAAN

Railways signs MOU with CII for facilitation of green initiatives
Railways have undertaken some major Green initiatives as part of India's contribution towards mitigation of global warming and combating climate change. To carry forward this green initiative, an MoU was signed between Ministry of Railways and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for facilitation of green initiatives in Indian Railways on 13 September, 2019
