Railways to flag off 10 ‘Sewa Service’ Trains to ensure last-mile connectivity

10 ‘Sewa Service’ trains will be flagged off on 15th October, 2019. These trains will benefit the commuters in establishing connectivity between the small towns of the country with major cities. Diversion of short distance traffic from road to Railways will ensure congestion free road and faster & ease of movement for public.

Railways deploys advanced technology- Saves Energy, Reduces Pollution

Vijayawada railway division is the latest addition to using Head-on-Generation (HoG) technology in trains which is saving energy on a large scale and reducing pollution. In the HoG system, power will be drawn from the overhead electric supply and the power generator cars which used to make a huge noise and emit fumes will no longer be there. It is also helping provide space for luggage, guard room and more passengers.

In a game-changing move, Railways is linking its trains to a satellite network of ISRO to collect real-time updates on the train, making sure the train is on time through an accurate and efficient system. Apart from knowing the exact location and speed of trains, this ISRO-aided system will also help in future planning. In case of a disaster, the driver can directly communicate with the control room by just pressing a button.
