At the BRICS Trade Ministers meeting held in Brasilia (Brazil) on November 11 2019, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Shri Piyush Goyal stated that in this uncertainty, India continues to offer economic opportunities with reduced corporate taxes that are the most competitive in the world, liberalised rules for Foreign Direct Investment and revitalisation of sectors like real estate and the micro and small enterprises. He urged the BRICS countries to again focus on trade as a catalyst for development, poverty alleviation and job creation.

Rising Himachal : High Level Task Force setup for Fast Track Implementation of Schemes in Himachal Pradesh
While speaking at the Rising Himachal Global Investors' Meet 2019 in Dharamshala (HP) on November 8 2019, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways, Piyush Goyal announced that a High Level task force will be constituted with Secretary DPIIT as chairperson, and representatives of the Union Ministries of Agriculture & food processing, railways and tourism, to study all schemes of the Government of India and the HP State Government in order to ensure better implementation of these schemes. The high level task force will give its recommendations within three months.

GeM a partner in growth : Self-help groups and artisan clusters to be on boarded
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is working with the Rural Development Ministry, State Government Emporia and Development Commission Handicrafts to on board self-help groups (SHGs) and artisan clusters on GeM. More than 3000 startups are already registered on GeM and they have received orders amounting to Rs. 522 crore till date. More than 58,101 MSMEs are registered on platform and 50% of the entire transactional value on GeM is from MSMEs. Nearly 40 thousand buyer organisations are registered on this procurement portal.

Khadi gets separate unique HS code, exports to get a boost
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has allocated a separate HS code (Harmonized System- A 6 digit identification code) for this signature fabric of India to make export of Khadi, exclusively categorized from the general league of textile products. Khadi will mark its presence in the exclusive HS code bracket, which will open a new chapter in the field of Khadi export.

GeM partners with Central Bank of India for Payment Related Services
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) signed an MoU with Central Bank of India on November 7, 2019. Through this partnership, Central Bank of India will be able to offer an array of services including transfer of funds through GeM Pool Accounts (GPA), advising of electronic Performance Bank Guarantees (e-PBG) and Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) to the registered users on the portal.
