Government approves increasing the speed on New Delhi-Mumbai rail route
Government has approved increasing the speed to 160 kmph on existing New Delhi-Mumbai Route as a part of Mission Raftaar reducing the travel time by 3.5 hours. It will allow semi-high speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express train to unlock its full potential and ensure improved speed, service, safety and create capacity.
Government approves increasing the speed on New Delhi-Howrah rail route
Government has approved project for raising the speed of trains to 160 km/hr on existing New Delhi-Howrah route reducing the travel time by 5 hours, now making it a fully overnight journey. It will also give further impetus to semi-high speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express to ensure passengers have best in class speed and service.
Government approves the construction of the New Line between Vaibhavwadi – Kolhapur
Government has approved the construction of 108 Km New Line between Vaibhavwadi-Kolhapur that will provide connectivity between Central Railway route and Konkan Railway route which can be used for evacuation during emergencies. It will certainly be a boon for a number of thermal plants located in Maharashtra and Karnataka as it will cut down the distance for thermal coal transportation.
Railways transports aid and relief material free of cost to flood-affected states
Railways has announced that no freight charges will be levied on relief material sent to the flood-affected states of Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra. All Government organisations across the country can book relief material free of cost to these states. Other organizations, as deemed fit by Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), may also avail of this provision.
