Commerce Minister demands reciprocal access for Indian companies abroad
At an event organised by Exim Bank, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal said the government will stop other countries from participating in local contracts unless Indian firms are given a similar opportunity abroad. He added that this policy is "fair by all global standards". Hon'ble Minister also asked Exim Bank to study such conditions and give feedback so that the government can "stand up for your right to do business in those countries". |

World class International Exhibition & Convention Centre: Cabinet approves developing 5-Star Hotel At Pragati Maidan
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi has approved the plan and authorised India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) to transfer 3.7 acres of land at Pragati Maidan on a 99 year fixed leasehold basis at a price of Rs. 611 crore in favour of the SPV, which will be formed by India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for development and operation of a five-star hotel. The International Exhibition and Convention Centre (IECC) project is scheduled to be completed in the year 2020-21. |

India following US model to set up computerised IPR office: Piyush Goyal
Responding during Question Hour, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal said the government has brought a lot of "sanity" to the working of eight areas of IPR, be it patent, copyright or trademark. On government's efforts to protect traditional knowledge, the minister said 3.6 lakh formulations which were part of traditional knowledge have now been made available to 13 patent offices across the world, due to which govt. was able to save about 236 cases which otherwise would have got patented somewhere else. |
