Constitution of National Traders' Welfare Board notified

The main objectives of the welfare board include suggesting simplification of rules, reducing the compliance burden on traders, improving access to funds and making recommendations on social security benefits like insurance, pension and healthcare for both traders and their employees.

 

India participates in 8th RCEP Inter–Sessional Ministerial Meeting in Beijing

The Commerce Secretary Dr. Anup Wadhawan led a delegation to the 8th RCEP Inter–sessional Ministerial meeting held in Beijing on 2–3 August 2019. During the meeting, he highlighted India's contribution in shaping the RCEP negotiations till date.

 
 

Government to support Global Growth of India's IT Industry – Commerce & Industry Minister held discussions with CEOs of Indian IT Companies

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal during the discussions requested the IT companies to share specific data regarding non–tariff barriers being faced by them in China and other East Asian markets. He assured all support for the global growth of the IT industry and for that, it is ready to engage with China and also Japan and Korea.

 

Exports target of $1 trillion set for making India a $5 trillion economy

Speaking at an interactive session on emerging opportunities to enlarge India's exports, Commerce & Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal urged manufacturers and exporters to come forward with data and details which directly and indirectly add to the cost of the products that are being exported like cess paid on coal, electricity and royalty paid on mines.

 

India received highest–ever Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) worth $ 64.37 Billion in FY19

According to the Annual Report 2018–19 of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), FDI worth $286 billion were received in the country in the past five years. The report further added that path–breaking reform measures undertaken during the last financial year have resulted in India surpassing the FDI received in the previous year.
