Railways' Ahmedabad division flagged off 1st export train
Gateway Rail Freight‚ a subsidiary of Gateway Distriparks flagged off the first export train service from the newly–built Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Viramgam near Ahmedabad. It will open international trade for the industrial belt of Sanand–Mehsana–Bechraji and would make a fundamental difference in the Intermodal service for Gujarat trade.
Railways completes construction of new railway line in Agartala–Sabroom section
The work of laying new rail line between Tripura's Agartala to Sabroom has been completed. This will not only help in the development of Tripura‚ but the connectivity of the direct rail route to Bangladesh's largest port Chittagong will promote trade and investment in the entire North East.
Ensuring Women Safety & Security–Railways introduces new 'Pink Coaches'
To ensure comfortable travel and safety for women, Railways has started a unique initiative to earmark a special portion of the SLR coach with pink colour which will help the women passenger to easily identify the coach in the platform even during rush hours. Eight trains in Rangiya division of the Northeast Frontier Railway have begun operations with some pink coaches.
Railways Going Green–Bio–Toilets in all Trains under Bhopal Division
Under Clean Rail, Clean India programme all 19 trains under Bhopal Division are now serving green toilets to its passengers· The new system of toilet will provide great relief to the passengers and Railway staff especially at stations helping keep the railway tracks clean and save water·
