Ministry of Railways has announced one of the world’s largest recruitment processes for about a lakh posts for candidates ranging from matric passouts to engineers. Eligible candidates can apply online for these posts at various units of Indian Railways by visiting Railway Recruitment Board website.
Railways has now decided to provide ‘Rakshak’, a personal safety device to trackmen, along with their usual boots, gloves, rain coats, winter jackets and tool kit. ‘Rakshak’ is a handheld walkie-talkie device which provides alerts through LED indication along with a buzzer and vibration of approaching trains which would help trackmen move away from tracks.
Central Railway (CR) authorities have decided to stop charging Re 1 from commuters for using the urinals installed at CR stations, a practice which began in 2016. The move will give impetus to 'Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat' mission and encourage passengers to use public toilets.
CIL’s production cost has come down by nearly 5% as it gets ready for private competition by modernising operations & transforming HR practices to improve productivity. The reduction comes in spite of higher additional payouts due to wage revisions under the National Coal Wages Agreement (NCWA).
