Review meeting held with officials of 3 Zones viz. NCR, NER and ECR with focus on Punctuality, Catering and Cleanliness to ensure a pleasant journey for the passengers
The performance of 3 Zonal Railways viz. North Central Railways, North Eastern Railways & East Central Railways with the General Managers of each zone along with officials of Zonal Railways was reviewed on 16th June 2018. The General Managers were directed to improve the punctuality significantly by introducing planned integrated corridor blocks for maintenance work, among other measures.

A new passenger train Kacheguda-Nizamabad has been flagged off on 15th June 2018 and various passenger amenities like passenger lifts, Foot-over-bridges, Bio-toilets etc. were launched at the Secunderabad railway station. Telangana used to have railway investment and projects worth about 258 crore in one year, the NDA government this year allocated 1,813 crore for capital investment for railway works in the state.

Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL)’s three 100 MW Solar Power Projects for commercial operation were dedicated to the Nation on 14th June 2018. The Solar Power projects situated at Thoppalaakkarai and Sethupuram in Virudhunagar District and Sellaiya Sezhiyanallur in Tirunelveli District, with an installed capacity of 100 MW each, were erected at a cost of 1300 Crores, which includes Operation & Maintenance cost for 15 Years.
Now disruption free travel for Mumbai even during heavy rains: Waterproof engines on Mumbai suburban railways to tackle heavy rainfall
In an unprecedented move, Central Railways has announced that it will be soon launching waterproof engines that will run on marooned lines and survive even 12 inches of water. The modified locomotive engine can move local trains as well as long-distance trains that get stuck on tracks due to water-logging.
