Railways to invest 480 crore to build 2,000 more coaches with MCF which will give a boost to employment opportunities
Modern Coach Factory (MCF) is transformed into a world-class project under 'Make in India' initiative. In order to boost employment opportunities and to give proper space to small-scale industries, Railways has decided to increase the capacity of MCF by building 2,000 more coaches with an investment of 480 crore.

Railways has slashed haulage rates on transport of empty containers & empty flat wagons by 25% in order to facilitate greater movement of freight from sea ports
Ministry of Railways has taken an innovative business decision to give a discount of 25% on extant haulage rate per Twenty Feet Equivalent Unit (TEU) on transport of empty containers as well empty flat container wagons in order to facilitate movement of containers by rail towards ports, thereby leading to higher loading by rail from ports.

Commuters on Mumbai's local trains can breathe a sigh relief with the introduction of two new 15-Coach Trains on the busy Virar-Andheri section, increasing capacity by 33% and substantially reducing crowding
The Western Railway (WR) will be adding 22 more services from January 2019. Not only that, it will also add two more trains of 15 cars each. The addition is expected to increase the passenger capacity by 33%. The WR authorities, in the first phase, will procure two rakes that will enable them to operate 15-car trains running 22 services.
