Indian Railways has posted its best ever freight loading in FY18, allowing it to post a total traffic earnings of Rs 1.65 lakh crore, an increase of Rs 10,000 crore over the total traffic revenue of FY17. Railways has earned Rs 1.17 lakh crore through freight loading in the last fiscal, a rise of Rs 8,000 crore over FY17. The passenger revenues stood at Rs 48,000 crore, compared with Rs 46,000 crore in FY17. |

Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited (CIL) launched UTTAM (Unlocking Transparency by Third Party Assessment of Mined Coal), an App for all citizens and coal consumers to monitor the process of Third Party sampling of coal across CIL subsidiaries. UTTAM is an example of leveraging technology to ensure transparency and efficiency in coal quality monitoring process to bring coal governance closer to people. |

Government has introduced new 'Make in India' 09-3X Dynamic Tamping Express machines to eliminate manual measurement of track quality, which will improve the safety, reliability & economy in maintenance of tracks. This eliminates the need for a separate stabilisation machine which reduces operating costs and track possession time. |

Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) flagged off the trial run of the first container train between India and Bangladesh. The train consisted of 30 wagons, carried 60 containers of soyabean extract. The train runs via Majerhat-Naihati-Ranaghat-Gede in India and Darsana-Ishurdi-Bangabandhu West in Bangladesh. |
