Railways has loaded the highest cargo of 98 million tonnes ever moved in any April, thanks to demand from all the cargo groups, including coal. The nearly 9 per cent growth registered in April 2018 against the same period last year is the sharpest growth since 2011. The Railways has been working to get its customers to spread their transportation needs evenly through the year to ensure optimal utilisation of its trains, tracks and locomotives.

The Balharshah and Chandrapur railway stations in Maharashtra have been adjudged winners of the beautification contest organised by Railways. The Nagpur Division of Central Railway has beautified the two stations with paintings, sculptures and murals based on wildlife at the Tadoba National Park and local tribal art.

A new weekly train no 22895/22896 Durg-Ferozpur-Durg Antyodaya Express was inaugurated by Shri Rajen Gohain, Minister of State for Railways & Dr. Raman Singh, Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh. This train and all other Antyodaya Express trains running from different parts of the country have multiple facilities at affordable rates.

With an objective to maximise the visual comfort and reduce energy use, natural sunlight tubes and sun pipes have been recently installed at the Mumbai Central station concourse, which provide natural, cool and effective lighting during the day. The move will help Railways bring down greenhouse emissions & reduce energy bills.
