To rationalise the fares an 8 member committee was formed to review the scheme and make it more passenger friendly. Flexi Fare has been completely removed from 15 trains and during lean period (February, March and August) from 32 trains. Also, highest slab reduced from 1.5 times to 1.4 times.

Railways is adding 3 more Ramayana Express trains to the Ramayana Circuit from different parts of the country after getting a good response for the first one from devotees and tourists. The new trains services will start from November 14th from Rajkot, Jaipur and Madurai.

On 2nd November 2018, simultaneous raids against e-ticket touting were conducted in more than 100 cities throughout the Indian Railways on ‘All India’ basis, arresting 891 individuals and recovering total tickets worth ₹5.75 Crore so far. As a result, there will be increased availability of tickets to passengers.

Railways has taken a mission area to eliminate all Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs) on Broad Gauge. As on 01.04.2018, there were 3,479 UMLCs on Broad Gauge routes. Total 3,402 UMLCs have been eliminated in last seven months leaving behind only 77 UMLCs throughout the country that will be eliminated soon.

For the 37 lakh passengers travelling on the Churchgate-Dahanu stretch, starting November 1, the schedule of trains has changed, making local train rides smoother and less harrowing; especially during peak hours. The Western Railways authorities will not only run 10 additional train services, but the speed of 26 trains will be augmented.
