MoU signed for 362 km Indore-Manmad Railway Line; a major step towards development of backward areas of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra through which the new railway line will pass
An MoU for implementation of the 362 km Indore - Manmad New Railway Line Project has been signed between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust- Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Railways, Govt of Maharashtra and Govt of Madhya Pradesh. The project is estimated to result in cumulative net economic benefits of ₹15,000 crores.
Railways to construct footbridges and elevated pathways at a cost of ₹ 200 crores on Mumbai suburban network which will save precious lives lost due to track-related incidents, especially trespassing
Railways has launched a ₹ 200-crore effort to make train corridors safer through a series of new footbridges and elevated pathways. Under the ‘Mid-section Trespass Control Project’, 28 footbridges, including two extensions, and seven linkways (pathways leading to skywalks) will be built across Main, Harbour and Western Lines by May 2020.
Another environment friendly step by Railways: MoU signed with GAIL Ltd. to supply Natural Gas to Railways in order to replace LPG and High Speed Diesel
In order to replace Industrial gases like Dissolved Acetylene, LPG, BMCG and Furnace Oil / High Speed Diesel (HSD) oil with environment friendly Natural Gas, Railways has signed an MoU with GAIL (India) Limited, to provide infrastructure facilities for supply of Natural Gas to Indian Railways Workshops, Production Units and Depots.
