Savings of over  5,000 crore in Railways' energy bills in the past 2 years |
Adopting an innovative strategy to reduce the cost of its electric traction energy bill by procuring of power under open access arrangements, Railways has succeeded in achieving a cumulative saving of  5,636 crore from April, 2015 to October, 2017. These savings will be utilized for taking up electrification of balance rail network as part of Mission Electrification. |
