The country's first air-conditioned (AC) suburban train commenced its services today, thus realizing the long-awaited dream of lakhs of commuters. The train will make six trips daily (12 services per day) and from January 1 next year, it will run from Churchgate to Virar. |

The Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express has got a makeover under ‘Project Swarn’, with new colours and better facilities in all coaches of the train. The train has also been attached with an ‘Anubhuti Coach’, which includes facilities such as ergonomically designed seats, improved modular toilets and automatic sliding doors, among other things. |

Achieving energy efficiency: Railways to become 100% LED lit by end of current financial year leading to savings of about Rs. 180 Cr annually |
Railways is actively working to provide 100% LED lighting for its most of the Non-traction Energy needs like Railway Staff Colonies, Railway Stations, Railway Platforms etc. It has been decided to make all railway stations 100% LED lit by 31st March, 2018. The move will lead to saving of about 240 Million Units of electricity, an annual savings of about Rs. 180 Cr. |
