Indian Railways completed the mammoth engineering task of repairing India's highest broad-gauge freight line to restore rail connectivity in the Araku Valley region of Andhra Pradesh. This was done on 24x7 war footing in a record 58 days, ahead of the target period of 60 days

For enhanced passenger experience, Anubhuti luxury coaches are all set to replace AC-1st class Executive Chair car coaches in some Shatabdi Express trains. As many as 10 Anubhuti coaches have been manufactured to give passengers a similar experience to flying in aeroplanes during train journeys.

To make contacting security personnel onboard a running train easy for passengers, Railways has decided to earmark seats for security personnel of train escort team. In case of any untoward incident or for any security related issues during journey, passengers may contact the security staff at the earmarked accommodation.

Kacheguda railway station of Telangana has become the first Energy Efficient ‘A1 Category’ Railway Station by achieving 100% energy efficiency replacing more than 1,300 conventional lights with LED lighting which will save around 1.76 lakh units of electricity and 14 lakh annually.
