The Railways and Coal India Ltd. have surpassed their own record by loading 257 freight rakes of coal to meet the demand of power plants. The target of 244 rakes was revised due to the sudden rise in coal demand from thermal power plants owing to drop in nuclear and hydel power. |

To improve passenger experience, Ministry of Railways decided to upgrade Premium Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains under Project ‘Swarna’. With improved passenger amenities, aesthetics and hygiene standards, Country’s first Swarn Rajdhani (Train no 12313 New Delhi – Sealdah Rajdhani Express) was launched in New Delhi on 29th November, 2017 at New Delhi Station. |

According to data recorded between April 1 and November 20, 2017, the national transporter has seen its passenger numbers grew by 6.58 per cent over the numbers achieved during the corresponding period in the last fiscal. |

Railways gears up for the forthcoming fog season for convenient travel of passengers |
In order to manage the train operations in upcoming fog season 2017-18, Government has devised a detailed plan for cancellation, diversion and frequency reduction of trains traversing through fog affected areas. The Cancellation, Partial Cancellation Reduction in Frequency and Diversion of trains will be done from 1st December 2017 to 13th February 2018. |
